Winter Ramble - Days One through Three - Spearfish to Terlingua TX

The Plan: Trailer "Freya" my 2014 BMW R1200 GS Adv South out of snow country, pick up a friend in Alamosa CO and head into New Mexico. Kip my riding partner for this trip is the famous Buell Man from my Inuvik and Cabo San Lucas trips. Great rider and companion, he will be on a new to him Tiger 800 XCA. We'll drop the truck and trailer at a friends, in Alamogordo NM and head South and East, hit Big bend NP, head down to Brownsville, then up the Gulf Coast towards Louisiana and a rendezvous with a couple of Cajun brethren. After the rendezvous, I'll head back West towards the truck. Haven't really thought too much about the route back other than to stay the hell off of the Slab, been there done that. Looking for "Not to be missed" roads, places, kitsch, food and to see where Trump wants to build his wall. Always game for a cup of coffee or a beer along the way. Day 8 - Local Ride - Lafayette LA Area

After a great home cooked breakfast, Joey Pons and I rode North Joey prepared a great Seafood Gumbo and invited a few motorcyclist friends over to partake, Joey's Father and the famous "Pops" were sharing stories. The famed RedFish Hunter made an appearance. The Gumbo served with the traditional Acadian Potatoe Salad and Slaw was quite good. We had a traditional "King Kake" for dessert. Guess who got the King? The weather cooperated today only a nfew random raindrops on our ride. Tomorrow and Sunday look a little more likely to be wet.

Day 10 - A day off the bike - Avery Island, the Tabasco Factory, Electrical repair, A quiet supper at friends

This morning the weather looked suspect, I have spent eight days on the bike seat, my butt needed a break. Joey Pons was kind enough to take Turk and I to Avery Island this morning. Along the way, we stopped for a traditional Cajun Breakfast of Boudain and Cracklin's The market inside was a treasure trove of carniverous deliciousness! Once at Avery Island we fulfilled a Turk Bence Bucket List item by going through the TABASCO Museum and Factory. A quite interesting history of the Family and the Island. Once through with our self-guided tour, we headed for the Garden's associated with Avery Island and the Family. The gardens were blossoming, the Alligators were sunning and the painters were painting while the Egrets were courting and roosting.
